the umlout buttons not working

this site is great! but one little boo-boo is that the umlout button doesn't work for me -- especially when i take my exams. and since it doesn't work, i get terrible scores (even when i correctly put an e after the vowel). i don't think it's fair, humph!

Hello Melody,
we have tried the umlaut buttons in the exam section. Can you explain to us, where exactly the mistake occured?
That would help us tremendously.

PS: The last letter in front of the cursor will be transformed into an umlaut. E.g you type 'a', then press the umlaut button and the 'a' will change to 'รค'.
