Grammar review: Lesson 2

After learning some new words, let's go back on track with reviewing each single lesson of this course. What were the most important messages of lesson 2?

1) Conjugating the verbs 'sein' (to be) and 'kommen' (to come)

The verb 'sein' in German is conjugated in the following way:

(they are)

The verb 'kommen' is regular and regular verbs in German follow the following rule.
RULE: To conjugate a regular verb in German (e.g. 'kommen' = to come), use the following set of endings: -e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en. Note that the plural forms 'wir' (we) and 'sie' (they) are identical and use the infinitive of the verb (e.g. 'wir kommen', 'sie kommen').


2) The numbers from 20 to 100

3) The definite articles der, die, das

Learning the articles/genders of each noun in German is quite a painful matter. However, through our repetitive exercising, you will get a good feeling for which words have which gender. Let's continue with this practice here:
