In the Shopping Mall: Centro O
In the last lesson, the Beckers from Germany had their relatives from the US coming for
dinner. The dinner was great and everyone liked the food that the Beckers had prepared.
On the next day, Anne Becker is taking her cousin Linda from the US to a shopping mall
in Oberhausen, Germany. Linda speaks German quite well, since she had taken
German classes for some years in high-school.
Read the following dialog between Anne and Linda aloud to yourself. Only the new words,
which are underlined as always, will be given to you in English on the right side
of the dialog.
| Anne (A): In welches Geschäft möchtest du als erstes gehen ? | which, shop, at first | | Linda (L): Ich möchte zuerst neue Schuhe kaufen . Und du ? | new, shoes | | A: Dort drüben gibt es schöne Schuhe. There were plenty of new things in the dialog above, which might have given
you a hard time reading and understanding it. Mainly, the new things were:
Indefinite articles, the plural forms of nouns and the proper use of adjectives.
Those three things will be the main focus of this lesson and we will go into
the details of this new grammar on the following pages.
